Once upon a time in the future, there appears a forgotten apple orchard...

The apple orchard left behind when Adam and Eve descended down to earth, has appeared in Black Rock City. The apples are so big that they have uprooted their trees, containing an entire universe. They remind us of the first ever traumatic experience in the human existence, when they bit that one apple. Do these parallel universes offer a healing opportunity?
* A 3D render of the Wormhole project with relative scale.

Description

Nine large apples built from wooden layers (i.e. playatec) with metal trees that uprooted and tilted to one side. They are positioned within a 3x3 grid and sit at slightly different heights above ground. They each have a tree on top of them, tilted to one side. The apples are 8 feet by 8 feet at their max height and width and sit 10 feet apart inviting the participants to walk through them. Their tree trunk is also 8', made from metal, uprooted and tilted to one side.  They are made using playatc method and are sturdy enough so they can be climbed on. Each apple has multiple seeds inside it. There will be indications and instructions for people to make a sound, sing or talk to the apples through the worm holes (i.e. microphones) around the apples. The apples are lit up at night from the inside creating a large light reflection in and around them. The trees are wrapped in a diffusion layer and are also lit up at night. .

This project is a sound installation. As the people interact with the apples, single tone humming sounds as well as words/phrases are heard through speakers inside the apples. As multiple people interact at the same time, a symphony of sounds is heard throughout the installation.

The language of these universes is frequency. Each frequency taps into vibrations, the universes foundational language.

As we immerse ourselves in these vibrations, we embark on a journey of transformation—one that reconnects us with the inner harmony that resonates at the core of the cosmos and within ourselves. You can interact with one of your future lives and affect the others. The lights and their vibrations change as you hum through a “worm” hole.

Each apple has multiple “Worm” holes on the outside (sensitive microphones) inviting and instructing participants to make a sound. As people make a sound - scream, clap, sing, speak - the apples respond with a combination of sounds including single tone humming and words/phrases.

One of the playful aspects of this project is to offer an immersive experience where a person can witness their actions manifesting in different “parallel” universes. As one apple responds with a sound, that sound is carried to the neighboring apples, making them respond with their own sound variation. A central computer processing unit controls the responses of the apples.

This project is inherently about personal and social trauma. The interactivity through sounds and lights are designed to offer a healing opportunity. This aspect manifests itself through immersing oneself in the “NOW”.

Additionally citizens of BRC can climb the apples. This offers a playful element to invite a fully interactive and immersive experience.

Philosophy

We increasingly learn about the physical makeup of the universe and how all matter is made up of vibrations. Theoretically, quantum mechanics and string theory hint at many probabilities of existence at any moment, manifested through vibrations. As the citizens of BRC interact with this art installation, they are reminded of these findings and are hinted to imagine a “tomorrow” where we can jump from one universe to another to experience a healing moment. Each person is reminded that not only their vibrations are traveling through the next person or object, but there may be a different, slightly twisted reality of the moment happening in a parallel universe. As the responses are heard in different variations, a collective story is constructed to spark the imagination towards a world where anything is possible.
